I broke my pencil..Can i borrow your pen?
Im focused.
Okay so some of you may have realized i didnt write in my blog for awhile. I guess its cus i've been busy..working..social life & what not.... or the hidden truth that i've been hiding from it. I always had a complex with writing, being that it's basically putting your thoughts (that you may not express vocally) down into words.. and sharing it with other people. Writings kind of like a secret world in your brain that nobody knows about. Theirs your imagination that other people may find strange. Your opinions that some might find offensive & your feelings that make you vulnerable. I sit & wonder how rappers/singers can put all their daily adventures..hood stories..love heart aches & their general personal life out for the world to see. Us folks listen to the song & dont even think twice about what kind of emotions took to sing the hell out of that verse. We just bump it & give it the, "yo this shit is hot" line. Perfect example of written expression is the Mary J. Blige.."My Life" album. The title track song "My Life" to me is one of the illest r&b songs of all time (along side "Im Goin Down"). Mary sang that song & you could hear the pain in her voice & with one note she could take you to that low right beside her. Years later we come to find out that Mary was at her lowest point in her life..only high off of cocaine & alcohol while recording the "My Life" album. Another r&b fav. of mine is Mariah Carey ft. Bone Thugz, "Breakdown"..she had just divorced her music mogul husband Tommy Mottola & basically spilled all her feelings into the song. Every lyric in that song mirrored back where she was at emotionally at that time. Even the harmony with Bone Thugz put you into a melancholy state making you highly aware that this wasnt just "any ol song". Even Justin Timberlakes "Cry Me a River" was written right after he recieved a phone call in the studio that Britney was cheating on him. But when talking about the best writer ...theirs Tupac. He was known for writing the rugged concrete truth & turning it into sweet melodic hip hop poems..such as, "Letter to my Unborn Child" & "Dear Momma". He really was an artist at what he did & understood his craft. He wrote what he felt & didnt give a damn about it. Poetry in its rarest form. Some people take advantage of the writing creativity & use it to their advantage...such as Usher. Remember back in the day when he broke up with Chili & he came out with that lil song called "Confessions". Everyone thought the whole song was about why they broke up (him having the baby behind her back)..when at the end of the day it was just a regular ol song. Non relatable to his life what-so-ever. Just a well written song about betrayal. But he sold the hell out of that cd. For those talented writers our their that have that creative flow that God blessed them with..a big thank you is in order for letting us in their world. I truly admire them. Hopefully, after reading this..the next time you hear a song, you'll listen to it from a creative perspective & understand the science behind it....just really listen.
"Say whats on your mind & you'll find in time that all the negative energy..it would all cease & you'll be at peace with yourself ..you wont really need no one else ..except for the man up above..because he'll give you love" - Mary J. Blige

C.R.E.A.M.
Earlier today I got a chance to go to upstate NY & visit the historical Olana Estate located along the Hudson River.
My mom,sis & family friend were also there. From time to time we do this just for a little bit of cultural enlightment. Sometimes these trips are really interesting & sometimes i wanna go sit in the car and listen to HOT97, but for the most part this trip was pretty good. It just amazed me on how this one man & his family owned 250 acres of land & this BIG OL HOUSE that he designed himself. As i was on the tour, I realized that this mans main hallway entrance was bigger than my room & thought, "this dude was buggin". He was a very talented artist who made good money for back then, (which would be about $10,000 a painting...which is still good if you asked me). He really made MTV Cribs look like your Auntie TT's crib. Of course the hip hop head in me mirrored this into how rappers of our era get dumb fly to the point where club bangers are produced about it. The most known side effects from these songs for our current generation would be the infamous, throwing our rent money in the air OR the new trend of, gettin soooo fly that our best friend has to stand there & slap/pat us down for a whole 4 minutes & 34 seconds of "Wipe Me Down". But of course, theirs the hood classics like, BIG's-Juicy that we sing along to drunk as a mug at the club, to the point where the 2 step seems like the only appropriate dance for every song for the rest of the night. I can only imagine how foreign the feeling is of waking up in a different social class . Especially coming from the streets of Marcy Projects like Jay, the slums of N.O. like Weezy or the Set Reppin' hoods of Compton like Dr. Dre and to securely say with your head held high I'm paaaaaaid. Classic example of what i like to call the, "hair nappy, but im happy, pocket full of doe" syndrome. Some make the transition & climb higher, going from selling records to being Presidents at Record Labels. Some just focus on the typical, girls, cash & cars. AND SOME just go power trippin & make people (who want the "out the hood" status) walk to Brooklyn for some cheesecake. Whether its Making it rain off stage or gettin "So Krispay" that ya jeans 900 & your shoes 850, like the song implies, ballin is at an all time high. Granted, at times we look like foolish hoodstars & at times we look like striving entreu-pro-negros. But whateva it is, make it do what it do rapper man.Live it up & pop them bottles, cus truthfully, we cant stop watching.
"..and my whole crew is loungin' ..celebratin' every day, no more public housin' ..thinkin' back on my one-room shack ..Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back ..& she loves to show me off, of course ..smiles every time my face is up in The Source"- BIG

I Got Yo' Back Like Chiroprac-tic.
Boyz N Da Hood.
Lately i've been seeing the constant articles on "JIMMY VS. CAM BEEF"...& honestly...its annoying. It's sad that we can't keep it together when we reach the top. Especially after the long journey their. Sometimes I think that these people read way to many Robb Reports & get extremeley gassed up in there mental & think they are the highest of the mighty'est. Of course when asked what happend we hear the classic media excercised statement from Jimmy, "...Everybody gets older and sometimes best friends do grow apart as the time goes on.." This is a classic Dame & Jay scenario. Money changes everything & thats a simple fact. (this is where we glance back at what Bishop did to Raheem for that "Juice"). Theirs always *THE STAR* & the sidekick. Eventually the sidekick grows up and doesn't wanna be kicked on its side anymore, which is something to applaud for. But you should always know where you came from & who was their to drop you off at your current destination. We don't know what really happend between Jimmy & Cam or Dame & Jigga...but just remember kids, that people you call your right hand man...are just that. Your right hand. People should never bite off the hand that fed them. But like us, they are human. We can only just hope that they can go back in time to their, childish, but innocently truthful, years of, "You mess wit my dude, u messin wit me" friendship. But the lesson at hand always remains: you live & you learn & you realize...whose friend? & whose foe?
"Me, i run the show, oh, & these kids..don't like nobody commin around here fckin wit they doe for sh!t..you enterprisin though & i like it..but fck with the big dogs though, i gotta bite ya..look, its out of my hands & you gettin money round here.. its not in the plans"- HOV
But lord knows.. theirs always a chance...
